06/05/15: Gas safety failings cost man £6,500 Philip Bowden of Daisy Path, Stoke Gabriel, Totnes, pleaded guilty to safety failings after employing someone to undertake gas work on his behalf that was not a member of Gas Safe Register.
29/04/15: Contractor fined for potential asbestos risk The leaseholder of a restaurant has been sentenced after illegally removing asbestos from the building putting people at risk of exposure. Aman Ullah was in control of construction work which included the removal of asbestos insulation board soffits from the premises which was being refurbished. The asbestos insulation board was removed in an uncontrolled manner with no controls to prevent the spread of asbestos fibres.
28/04/15: Roofworker injured at school Two companies, Marnick Roofing Limited and Interserve Construction limited have been fined a total of £21,000 after a worker was seriously injured falling through an unprotected roof light opening at Mount Charles School in St Austell.
13/04/15: Farm fined after serious ATV injury The director’s fiancée was hospitalised for 10 days and was unable to return to her work for seven months when the ATV crashed and rolled throwing her to the road. She was not wearing a helmet.
