HSE continues to work closely with Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Services at the Wood Flour Mill in Bosley.
As part of the on-going investigation, HSE last week served two enforcement notices on Wood Treatment Ltd in relation to dust issues in sheds that contain equipment on the site of the mill. One of the sheds is divided into two areas; in one area a Prohibition Notice has been served preventing work activities until the issues identified have been resolved, and an Improvement Notice served on the other area.
The different enforcement actions were due to differences in the level of risk in the two distinct areas – they are structurally different and contain different processes and equipment. Inspectors are working with the company to ensure safety and further enforcement action has not been ruled out.
HSE Head of Operations for the North West, Steve Smith, said: “HSE Inspectors continue to work closely with emergency services in the ongoing investigation into the cause of this tragic incident.
“HSE specialists are on site to assist with the collection of evidence in order to try to establish exactly what happened.”
